Iron Stars - Dynonen shipyard infiltration

Aboard the Proletariat Transport the infiltration team and planetary landing team prepare for their respective duties. The captain seems to trust the fleet to keep any opportunistic enemy ships off your back, and this vessel can take a bit of a pounding before showing problems - normally meant to ferry troops to combat zones. Red lights flash across all decks as the operation begins

Dimitri stands with the others of the infiltration team, now in a sleek all black assault suit except for a lone red CBSS insignia in the front. Adjusting and readjusting his rifle, he stands ready and waiting. (edited)

The troop transport begins to move forward as the rest of the fleet prepares to engage the cult fleet here, and you can feel the deck under you shudder somewhat as the engines cycle live. You sense this will be your last few minutes to make any preparations before your boarding assault.

Muhammad is sitting with closed eyes. He slowly breathes in an out as he prepares mentally for the assault.

Dimitri notices Muhammad preparing and let’s hun relax. Though as he goes through his prep he pulls a battery from his bag and pushing on his hand a slot opens and he slides it into his hand. As he finishes his prep he tests the comms. “Everyone, our time is fast approaching. We will be the tip of the spear. Let those behind us hear us, hear our battle cries.”

Outside you can see the first of the cruisers and the destroyer firing on the enemy flagship, and the first CBSS blows of the space battle look to be phenomenally successful. The engines of the transport fire up and the cargo lighter within its small launch bay is being fitted out for use. Crew wave the assault team aboard and ensure the air mix is right. THe destination is an airlock near the top of the station, but beyond that you will be on your own once inside.

Dimitri takes up a spot inside near the front. Breathing deep he stands ready. “Once we are in the airlock, find cover. We’ll start working our way towards the AI. We will try to shut off defensive systems on the way as well.”

A short countdown from two minutes begins ticking down. Outside you can see a vicious exchange of fire between the fleet cruisers, and a particularly devastating blow from a cult corvette against Sickle 5. The battle seems contentious still but no one seems to have noticed the transport yet..

Outside, as the enemy cruiser explodes, you see the green light beginning to flash on the airlock as the transport makes a brief connection with the enemy shipyard.

Dimitri looks outside watching the chaos with awe, though it’s hidden under his helmet. As the enemy cruiser explodes his eyes widen. But as the lights flash green he looks back at the door and gets ready for the doors to open. Shouldering his rifle and with a quick thought turning on the thermal vision of his new cyberware.

"Go! Go! Go!" the crew chief yells, as the airlock door is opened, and a pair of ship marines spin the flywheel on the airlock of the shipyard. You can see through the armored viewport no one is on the other side.

Moving in he starts scanning for enemies, before switching to radio and electrical signal vision to see if he can get any idea for which way towards the station control center or the AI.

Aleksander shrugs his shoulders, trying to break in the new armor, he moves in keeping his mag rifle at eye level. he takes cover quickly if able before any shooting starts to happen.

Muhammad follows the others, tightly gripping his pistol. After arriving on the other side he quickly starts searching for cover.

The main airlock is empty of threats and as it closes behind you the inner doors leading to C-2 and the rest of the station unlock. If there’s anyone monitoring they’ll surely have seen the airlock open and close , but it may be some time before anyone comes to investigate

" you think we should clear this wing so we don't have any suprises sneaking up on us as we make it to the center?" Aleksander asks the others as he gets into position at the door heading into C-2.( do our characters know the layout of the base? i don't want to metagame)

As he stacks up on the door Dimitri nods as a heads up display of the layout comes on. “Yes, we can cut the power as well. It should make things a little easier as well.”

"So we will clear this area and cut the power, backup power should kick on and keep emergency systems running. Then we make for the command module and barricade ourselves in, while we take care of the AI, If hacking into the command terminal benefits the Brotherhood in any way i can attempt it." Aleksander readies himself to open the door after any response his teammates might have.

“Yes, seems excellent. If we can flush the airlock from the command center we can take the station with little chance of bloodshed.”

"Good idea, let's do that"

Muhammad scans the area with his eyes for security cameras and the like

Pressure equalizes and the door to C2 unlocks. There does not seem to be a camera watching the area , or other obvious sensors that a quick visual inspection would reveal. C2 is a bare bones transit corridor with another heavy bulkhead door at the end , and adjoining rooms coming off of.

He points to the door on the left. “Maintenance, leads to power.” He goes to get ready to open the door. “Cover me.”

Muhammad stands next to the door holding his pistol in ready position

The iris door opens to reveal a cult workshop. Two engineers are in here and are quite startled to see armed men suddenly rush inside. They have not reacted yet but are about to. Several work benches are inside this space. Tools and weapons are being serviced here. You can see a wall rack of void carbines hanging on the back wall, though no ammunition for them has been provided.

Their ship suits are deep purple, threaded with gold stripes and the seeing eye of the AI godmind they worship is symbolized in the middle.

Dimitri takes a step in the door in case they try to close it. “Surrender or die. Your choice.” And readies a shot with the mag rifle.

They begin backing away from their work stations, hands in the air

“Lie down. Keep your mouths shut.” He starts taking a step forward.

Muhammad walks over to one of the cultists and searches them with one hand while keeping the gun ready in the other.

Aleksander steps into the room and sweeps around the room checking for any dangers other than the cultists. He then trains his gun on one of the cultists Muhammad is searching.

There’s a bit of protest but a quick shove from you and the knife comes free. They’re now both totally disarmed.

Dimitri looks about the equipment. And sees if he can fashion any form of restraint for them. “Where is everyone else? Does the station have any automated defense?”

There are fuel tubes here along with interior wiring and other plumbing like connectors something could be fashioned from. "Command center, cargo areas, around the station, waiting to see if the fleet survives"

He grabs the wires and goes to bind them. “Let’s bind them and keep moving.” He pulls up the mask for a moment as he does. “Do not try anything.” He says in the most intimidating voice he can muster before moving to go into the power room.

Aleksander goes to the door to the power room and opens the door, using the doorway as cover as he peeks into the new room.

Two cult marines look over four technicians laboring at the power core here. They are on the opposite end of the room, 5m from the door, and since you took this room quietly they do not seem to be aware anything is wrong, yet. It is only a matter of time before they come into this room to see why the parts they requested did not come yet.

Dimitri moves up and seeing the marines makes eye contact and with a quick couple gestures with Aleksander. He points out the two marines before getting ready to raise his rifle and take a shot at the one on the left.

Muhammad signals them to wait. He whispers "We could ambush them".

Dimitri shakes his head. “We have the drop on them anyway. Might as well do it now, same result except less room for error.”

Aleksander reads his gestures and gets ready to take a shot on the right guy." I agree with Dimitri, I think we should storm the room."

Muhammad nods and takes aim

The marine on the left is killed instantly as a shot takes him through the chest plate. The one on the right is wounded and the gunfire alerts the rest of the room that something is wrong. (Initiative )

The wounded marine is struck by a second laser shot and falls dead, but the cult engineers here grab tools and try to defend this vital room for the defense of the space station. One runs to a wall panel, and will hit an alarm in a few seconds if not stopped. (Alek)

Alek aims a shot at the engineer running to the panel. (5/ 19)

The shot sticks a mag spike into the wall but misses the cultist. He begins working at the control panel, bringing up the systems needed to make a security broadcast to the rest of the station. The three other technicians return fire with their laser pistols. Two of the shots hit but one strikes Muhammad across the shoulder (17/3, dimitri is up)

Dimitri let’s the hun drop hanging from its sling, in a quick moment a knife and pistol are in his hands. And I’m determined fashion he runs into the room to begin his assault. (If he can get into melee with one he will.) As he runs in he ducks behind cover in the room before ducking out throwing a knife and taking a shot at the technician at the controls. (edited)

(Figured with movement. Could I move into melee and shoot at the one on the controls followed by melee? I have gunslinger so I’m not worried about attacks or penalties just sight lines. The description was mostly for flavor.)

Muhammad jerks back from the hit but he clenches his teeth and aims at the cultist that damaged him and fires.

Alek groans in frustration, he hasn't spent enough time at the firing range with his new rifle to be as accurate as he would like, he turns to the cultists and fires off a shot at one of the unharmed cultists. (15/11)

The cultist Muhammad has winged tumbled backward with a mag spike in his chest. He is dead as he hits the deck plate leaving just two men behind.

Alek switches targets and take another shot. The possibility of the station being alerted is making him nervous. He wants to begin working on the power as soon as possible. (17/14)

There is only one cultists left after Alek has a second to get a shot off. This time the shot is clean and the cultist is killed outright, leaving just one left. (he will go, or if dimitri wants to make a snap attack with something at -4 to hit, we can try to end this before they get a turn)

The cultist falls as Dimitri acts quickly , the man of Soviet steel and his honed reflexes decisively ending the fight for the compartment

Quickly reloading his weapons he collects his knives without even missing a beat. “Let’s cut the power quickly, hopefully no one heard that.”

Alek reloads his weapon and goes to the panel necessary for the power to the station and examines his options.

Aleksander quickly does a full sweep of the terminal for any information or credentials of other personnel and saves it to his data storage before he turns the power off.

You’re able to get names and ranks copied onto your pad. At least now the dead can be identified.

There are hundreds of names between the ship crews outside and the station crew here.

Aleksander backs up the roster of names to his data storage for later. He proceeds to turn off the power(is there anyway I can lockout this terminal so they don't turn the power back on?)

“Sure that’s fine, they won’t be fixing that as long as we’re here.” He moves to the door back to the main hall. “Just punch it to and head to the bridge then?”

The computer is destroyed with rifle butts and boots, and now they cannot restore power.

“Ready?” Dimitri says as stands near the door to the main hall.

"Let's do this!"

The hallway is empty, as you were able to stop the alarm in time and none of the station marines have scrambled. The bridge bulkhead doors are down since the fleet battle outside has at least brought them to combat alert, and no subtle approach is going to disguise the fact that hundreds of people are dying outside the walls of this station,

Moving forward carefully he inspects the bulkhead. (Does it look like they can be opened?)

Alek moves up to the door as well and inspects it to see if he needs bypass it.

There is a keypad that can be used to over-ride the bridge controls, but the code sequence is not something you know.

Muhammad looks if any of the numbers look worn on the keypad

With the power killed and the lights now off, it’s hard to make out much detail on the keypad. The backlighting doesn’t highlight anything especially worn or over used

Dimitri pulls out the black slab and a line shunt. “Are either of you good at hacking? I have some equipment that’ll help, I’m not particularly good at it.”

(8 passes, and yes.) The door does not cycle open but you can command it to when you’re ready. You are able to avoid an expensive and time consuming hunt through the rest of the station for the key.

In position Dimitri watches Alek and if he looks at Dimitri he gives a nod. “Whenever you all are ready.”

"I'm as ready as i'll ever be!" Muhammad takes position at the side of the door

After checking that everyone is ready Alek opens the door and readies his rifle.

Inside you can see four marines and the six strong bridge crew are dug in behind their computer banks and are waiting for the inevitable breach. (surprise round for you guys, since they didn't expect the door to open right this second, then we'll do a new initiative if we dont feel like keeping the existing one, up to youi)

One of the marines is killed outright by Dimitri and one of the bridge crew and their flimsy ship suit is struck center mass by Alek Muhammad opens fire and the shot sparks off a console, briefly illuminating the terrified bridge crew

A second of the Marines is downed , and with most of the security here dead and the bulk of the defenders now untrained in combat bridge crew , you hear them call for terms.

"Give up while you can!"

(they're offering to surrender but they're not going to come out unless you guarantee their safety)

"Come out and we will spare your life!"

You can hear the sounds of them dropping their arms. Calls for medical attention from inside the bridge replace the gunfire and screams of moments ago. Through your low light goggles you can see that everyone in the bridge has been horribly wounded in some way. Most won't be able to walk on their own

(Looking in, does it seem they were yet by the fighting? We only fired a few rounds)

"Doors behind us" (labeled computer on the map) "It is watching. It will know you are coming"

He looks to the others and speaks to the members of the bridge once again. “Are there any others in there? Or any defenses?”

They're not sure what the AI core mght have done in its computer room itself, as they're not allowed to directly see their "god" but the station has no internal defenses with power down the way it is now.

He nods, and looks to the others. “Let’s see then.” As he starts to move towards the computer room door.

Alek enters the room " please put any weapons you might have on the floor and kick them away from yourselves, and don't try anything." Alek surveys the command room, not looking for anything in particular but keeping an eye on the monitors for any information valuable to the CBSS. He then lines up at the door to the computer room.

They comply and their weapons are passed over to you as best as they're able. You can see something like mechanical eye in the center of the AI core door, and it lazily scans the room back and forth, taking in all that is happening.

Dimitri sees the eye on the door and glances at the others as he lines up at the door. If he can, he will avoid the eyes gaze as he gets into position.

A simple lever opens the doors , and you have no idea what might be on the other side

(so in summary, we know the AI is active, and might be watching, i didnt want to just throw you into the unknown but you can open the door whenever)

(the medpak from frontier medicine can, yes. TL4 pharms aren't in the setting , and those take 5 minutes to work anyhow. Other than the medpak or healing powders, the only other form of instant healing is bioscopic psychic abilities )

“I would doubt it, it hasn’t been bothered yet. I doubt it will be bothered later.”

"Well let's not keep our host waiting then, shall we?" Alek moves in and opens the door, raising his rifle and leaning into the door for cover.

The doors snap open revealing the AI core inside of its cybernetic combat housing. It doesn’t plan to go down without a fight

The shot is well aimed and sparks blossom from the middle section of the robot. Wires are severed and some of its glowing internals go dormant. It’s large and imposing but not impervious, it seems. (Muhammad is up. If you’re still running for the arms room it’s 30m away. A move is 10, a move and main is 20)

The robot braces and fires a series of shots in Alek's direction in repayment for damaging it, but thick armor and some cover to fire behind keeps the machine gun from doing more than taking chunks out of his cover.

Muhammad runs to the arms room, in a moment he will make it to the door to look for anything helpful that might be inside. (Dimitri up)

Dimitri takes a moment and calms himself as the bullets fly, then ducks down and kneeling takes a shot at the robot before hopping back in cover. (22/11)

The shot shatters one of the main sensor lenses the Ai combat frame is using to try to track and detect you. It begins building power for some kind of directed energy weapon, its feet claws stamp into the decking and crumple some of it under its weight. (Alek up, new round)

"I'm beginning to think we've pissed it off!!!" he laughs nervously at the site of the charging energy weapon. He lines up another shot and takes it. (19/17)

The shot breaks more sensors and Muhammad makes his way to the arms room. It’s largely bare but there is a case stamped EMERGENCY USE ONLY , and there are several hazard stamps written on it. Among them is a warning that compartments may be breached if the enclosed items are used and they should only be employed as a last resort to save the station from total destruction. A set of four hand grenades are in the case , newer model, fragmentation.

(Lol Muhammad is gonna come back with grenades a plenty and either we will all be dead and he’s gonna be the hero. Or we are gonna kill it and there will be an awkward moment as we realize he might kill us all with the explosives, I’m calling it now.)

(Muhammad has a main action still, but that would be grabbing them, so we move on to Dimitri)

Dimitri hears Alek and and chuckles. “Think it’s to late to tell it we are here for some electrical work!?” (19/14) He leans out and takes a shot with the rifle. Then ducks back into cover looking over to Muhammad. “How we looking in there? An EMP grenade would be wonderful right now.” (edited)

Braced as it is, the shot connects with some kind of cooling pipes and a thick smoke begins pouring out from under the robot. A beam of red/orange flame passes horizontally across the room sweeping from one side to the other (evasion save Dimitri and Alek)

The robot is heavily damaged, groaning and creaking with every movement as it readies its machine cannon to fire. Shots chew up the deck around Muhammad as he approaches with the cluster of grenades. (19/3), most miss but a few hit him with enough force to spin him around, though he keeps his feet under him.

The grenades slide as Muhammad falls, two of them rolling near enough for Dimitri to grab.

"Kill this beast already...." Muhammad groans before losing conciousness

Kneeling down he looks over as the grenade bounces next to him. He takes the syringe and applies it to Alek healing him. (It’s a full round and will heal 2d4+1) “Oh fuck, Alek get up. We don’t have time to die.”

The rearing form of the robot armature freezes up suddenly. Something creaks within and hydraulic fluids flood the floor. THe core looks to still be active but the armature around it is dead.

"Hold on, The AI's combat frame seems to be out of commission. Is there anything we could do with this AI for the CBSS? or should we just destroy it?" Alek asks daring to venture a little further in the room.

The AI shows clear signs of being beyond any kind of braking. It cannot be saved.

Muhammad continues laying on the deck as Alek struggles in vain to stabilize him. (Now a DC9, but let’s give dimitri a chance to aid too)

As Dimitri watches the frame shudders he looks to Muhammad and runs over looking to start prepping while Alek gets ready to come over. “Damn I shoulda have brought another medpak!”

with Alek’s help, enough bandages and chest compressions are given to get Muhammad breathing again. The wounds are severe and all of you need medical attention, but first the core has to be dealt with

Dimitri seeing Muhammad breathing sighs. Getting up he takes off his helmet and scans the room using his new Panspectral Optics to look for any electrical or radio type signal coming from the core. “This fucking thing, I know what we should do with it.” As he says this a blade shunts out of his forearm.

Its circuitry is self contained within the core. There is nothing on the outside to cut on this cybernetic coconut shaped device

He starts walking over and will stand looking at it. “This should be destroyed. It’s harmed far to many people as it is.”

The grenades spilled by the recovering Muhammad seem to catch the dim overhead light of the station. Pressed into this armored shell and detonated, it should crack the core without damaging the control room.

Dimitri sees the grenade and the blade retracts. Going for one he grabs it and gets ready to jam it into the shell and activated. “Get back I don’t want anyone getting hurt. And make sure those other grenades aren’t in here. I don’t wanna blow us all into the vacuum of space.”

(I plan to destroy this, just wanna let Alek if he wants to have input.)

The grenades are planted and after a hearty thump the noise and ligjt within the AI core have ceased. The shipyard is yours. The AI is gone. It’s cult are either dead or suing for peace, allowing themselves to be taken into custody. Dynomen is yours.
